Sunday Traditions...Now

Our habit on this trip has been to do the driving on Saturdays, then wander around the new town on Sundays. It seems to work very well & we avoid problems with traffic & parking in downtown areas. So today as is our custom we drove out to Whitefish Mountain Resort (formerly Big Mountain) to check it out prior to skiing. Located right outside the town of Whitefish, MT you can see the mountain runs long before you get to town...at least if the fog hasn't enveloped the mountain you can see them.

As we drive up the mountainside we noticed quite a bit of real estate for sale...so we decided to check out what was available. What do you think? Which did we choose? Mmmmm...

After we drove around the resort we discovered the perfect spot to park for our ski day. Located right by a lift the attendant said that rather than a $5 lot as it was on Sunday it would be free during the week! Yippee for free...almost a ski out location slope side. Heading back through Whitefish we stopped at the local McDonald's for a quick break and found this sign outside....good to know.

After the excursion up to Whitefish we headed off in the direction of Glacier National Park. We ended up in the towns of Hungry Horse & West Glacier...too bad the weather was mostly too foggy & cloudy for much in the way of picture taking. The scenery was breathtaking even with all the fog...you knew that there were some big mountains all around us.
