Snowshoes Anyone?
Today we took a 4 mi. stroll in Glacier Nat'l. Park on snowshoes. We thought walking would be tricky but we just strapped 'em on and started our walk. From where the road was blocked off, we hiked up the road about 1.5 mi. and then took a side trail another 0.5 mi. up to a small frozen lake called Johns Lake. We then found that we could take the Sperry Trail through the woods that ran parallel to the road all the way back to the car. The walk through the woods was magnificent with large red cedar, pine, fir and hemlock trees. To top it off it was snowing. When you stopped walking it was one of the quietest places we have ever experienced...with no wind, no bugs, no anything to make a sound. We hoped to see some wildlife, but we never saw anything other than some deer tracks and only heard one bird, but it was still a beautiful walk.
When we got back to the parking lot we noticed a map that we had missed before and it turns out there is a water fall on the other side of the road from Johns Lake. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to go back.
Nice macro shot!
