Ski Whitefish

We've gotten pretty spoiled with the skiing we've been able to do. Today we headed out to Whitefish Ski Resort...formerly called Big Mountain. Out of everywhere we've skied we had the most perfect parking spot...how about 25 feet from a lift. Can it get any better than that? Nope! By being so close we could head back to the car and switch gear and even grab lunch. With so much terrain to ski we were not able to get to much before we needed a break to warm up our toes.

Whitefish definitely had the most spectacular views of any ski area to date. Off to the North you had views of the Canadian Rockies and Glacier National Park and to the South you could see the towns of Whitefish & Kalispell along with several frozen lakes. Thankfully, we had mostly clear skies and not the dreaded fog the top of Big Mountain is known to have in the winter. Unfortunately, we didn't have a bright blue sky to set off the mountains...

After lunch and a great conversation with some Canadians visiting from Alberta we broke out the snowboards. Cindi spent the next 4 hours or so figuring out the idiosyncrasy's of heel to toe edging and the importance of choosing a "leading foot". Ultimately she was able to achieve success and link everything together into a couple of pretty decent runs. She was even able to get off the lift upright...well most of the time anyway. On this trip she was the one run into by another newbie boarder. Not to worry though she took him out when he ran over her board.

How would y'all like this job? No way I'd do it...
