This morning we headed off to Bozeman, MT by back roads. The trip to Casper is wide-open space with far-off mountains. We did see our first elk herd just off the road. There must have been over a hundred. This pic is less than half the herd.
There's a whole lot of this from Laramie to Casper.
Just before you get to Thermopolis you go through a really magnificent gorge.
Another gorge pic showing the river. It's a lot more impressive in person.
The road from Thermopolis to Cody.
We made it to MT! We still had 180 mi. to go. No more pics today. The MT mountains are big and the scenery was OK but just not as interesting as WY. There are a lot more trees and stuff, and it's probably very nice when it's green. But now it just kind of looks dead.
