Today we headed away from camp to check out the other lake area... Priest Lake. According to the signage it is the so-called "jewel of Northern Idaho". We're pretty sure that those around Lake Pend Oreille would disagree. Priest Lake is certainly out in the "middle of nowhere"... not sure it is any nicer than where we have been camping.
The road isn't as pretty of a drive as we were hoping... no sign of the lake for miles until we wandered down a side road to look at a few campgrounds. Pre-scouting for a visit next year perhaps. Okay, but there is something to be said for a flush toilet... vaults are great unless you can find a CG with running water and flush toilets.
We did discover that the Priest Lake State Park has a CG with SHOWERS... that's an even better deal. Of course by the time we made this discovery we were well past the road to the State Park. There is always next year...
