Talley Lake Camp

Another camp at yet another lake…Talley Lake outside of Whitefish, MT.  The lake is at the end of 9 miles of dirt and gravel road.   At 400+ feet deep it is the deepest lake in Montana which means it is on the chilly side.  Not sure getting in will be an option, but it depends on how hiking goes.  Might feel pretty good after a day in Glacier.

Cooper hasn’t been too fond of being outside the tent…flies are driving him crazy.  The buzzy little critters keep landing and he keeps twirling trying to get away.  He has not been successful stalking the ground squirrels that keep popping up out of their holes to chirp at him either.   Tomorrow Cooper gets a day at Three Dogs Ranch while we head out to Glacier for some hiking.

One thing to note…we would seem to be rather lucky at even finding Talley Lake Campground.  When we first arrived we had come by way of Kalispell and Henry (aka the GPS) took us a different route from what the National Forest Service (NFS) had on the website.  All well and good…it really is safer to have multiple ways out of an area.  However, when we returned from Whitefish we headed Henry’s way which turned out to be the original directions from NFS until we reach Talley Lake Road…to find “Road Closed 2 miles”.  The campground is 3 miles.  Thank goodness we knew that there was another way into the campground.  Otherwise we would have been out of luck.
