The "delay" allowed us to change our plans slightly since the local Costco would now be opened. Off we headed to see if by chance they would have some cheap Ski Tickets...they did...only for Whitefish which is no where near Bozeman. We then headed off to see what Bridger Bowl Ski Area actually looked like on a beautiful Sunday morning. After parking the car we walked up to the lodges and the lifts. What was amazing was the fact that there were no lines...anywhere...which is unheard of from our experience skiing on any weekend. We thought for a few moments about heading back to the car and suiting up for some skiing, but ultimately decided to hold off until Monday.
After an attempt to call Tom to make him so very jealous we headed off for a drive down to Virginia City. Not much happening there in the winter...nothing open so we breezed right on through without stopping. We did stop for some pictures of grazing pronghorn and discovered one thing...they will not jump over fences. We came up on two standing right by the road rather than in the field with the rest of the herd. After pulling over to take their picture they ran up & down the fence looking for an escape route, finding none they just kept changing directions away from us. How are they moving through the ranges in vast numbers when there are so many fences? After exhaustive research Bill found this little nugget* regarding why they don't go over fences. Now we know.

*All these adaptations have made pronghorns excel in cursorial locomotion, but they can no longer jump because they have lost the suspension mechanism that cervids have. This explains their apparent fear of fences.
